Miscellaneous weapons related

& excavated weapons of the Civil War

All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use.  These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever!  Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have.

W0713.jpg (14469 bytes) W0713B.jpg (12217 bytes)
The "pickets" or country rifles, examples, "Kentucky or Pennsylvania longarms" were custom rifles, highly accurate. They were originally designed for game hunting, but the marksmen were quickly put to work for both armies using the weapons for sharpshooting and picket duty. The bullets were designed to fit the gun, and often differ in details and calibration. This is approximately .36 cal with a rounded button, plus a ball.
