Weapons of the Civil War

All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use.  These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever!  Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have.  

W0891     Model 1843 Hall - North breech loading percussion carbine, .52 cal  
 
 
The Hall series represented the earliest military effort to develop a  breechloader.  This was the last in the series, produced 1844 to 1853. A lever on the right was used to pivot the entire breech above the barrel for loading, with a gas release hole below the breech.  It was manufactured by Simeon North, Middletown Connecticut.  
Mark on top of frame: "U.S. / S. NORTH / MIDLTN CONN / 1843" marks are clear.  
Additional inspector mark "JCL" on barrel  
Single shot percussion breechloader, .52 cal.,  iron buttplate, iron breech with distinctive middle bulge with loading lever on right side, long saddle bar and ring on the left side, two iron bands, fixed sight, iron trigger guard.  
Metal appearance pleasing with light rust, sight intact, loading lever intact, bore is dirty, rifling definite, wood solid with dings and scratches from use, saddle bar and ring intact, mechanics fully functional, ramrod which was only used for cleaning is missing.  
Barrel is 21 inches.
