Weapons of the Civil War

All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use.  These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever!  Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have

All  items listed are believed to be authentic to the Civil War or as otherwise described.

W0851     Smith Carbine, .50 cal.

The Smith carbine was used extensive by Northern cavalry units that enlisted early.
Manufactured by Massachusetts Arms Co, Chicopee Falls, Mass
Three marks on left side of the breech:
"ADDRESS / POULTNEY & TRIMBLE / BALTIMORE, U.S.A."
"SMITH'S PATENT / JUNE 23, 1857"
"MANUFACTURED BY / MASS ARMS CO. / CHICOPEE FALLS"
Serial number  "1808" appears twice, early issue
Inspector cartouche in wood on left side behind the receiver.
Breech loading percussion, iron buttplate, single iron band, distinct breech release is in front of trigger, hinged sight, riding ring and bar on left side.
Nice honest example, all marks are definite, bore is clean, rifling is crisp, sight original, trigger release was custom modified, stock shows dings and scratches from use, riding ring and saddle bar intact, everything works, excellent example.
Barrel length 21 5/8 inches.
