Weapons of the Civil War

All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use.  These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever!  Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have

All  items listed are believed to be authentic to the Civil War or as otherwise described.

W0844     Sharps and Hankins Model 1862 Carbine .52 cal.

Sharps partnered with Hankins for a short period during the Civil War, only 8,000 produced from 1862 to 1865. This one was made for the Navy,  it employed a leather covering on the barrel to protect against rust when used on shipboard.
Mark on right side "SHARPS / & / HANKINS / PHILADA"
Mark on left side "SHARPS / PATENT / 1859"
Serial number "907" on rear tang.
Single shot breechloader, rimfire, brass buttplate, swivel sight, iron barrel originally covered with leather with iron fastener at end, no bands, strap hook underneath butt.
Metal appearance pleasing with light rust, long range sight intact, leather covering was removed and the barrel painted black, probably intended as an improvement because the leather jacket typically did not wear well, bore is clean, rifling definite, wood solid with dings and scratches from use, strap hook intact, mechanics fully functional.
Barrel length 24 inches
Ref: Flayderman F5-091         Sold!
