Weapons of the Civil War

All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use.  These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever!  Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have.

This weapon revolutionized breech loaders, as it was the first significant use with metal cartridges. The 5th model has a distinctive screw in the middle of the right block, the saddle riding bar is affixed by a screw in the rear, and apparently was numbered independently of the first four models. Marks on top of frame "BURNSIDE PATENT / MODEL OF 1864" Barrel is marked "CAST STEEL 1864" Lock marked "BURNSIDE RIFLE CO / PROVIDENCE, RI". Serial number normally appears three times, twice on the top of the breech and once inside (can be viewed by opening the breech). "18614" Two Inspector cartouches stamped on stock behind the lock, additional marks "P" on lock, "R" on hammer, "B" on lever, "F" on internal mechanics, "R" on block, "P" on the sight "B" on the butt, Single shot breechloader, percussion firing system, iron buttplate, single iron barrel band, saddle riding bar and ring on left side, strap hook on bottom of butt, two leaf sight.
Metal appearance pleasing with light rust, sight intact, bore is clean, rifling definite, wood solid with dings and scratches from use, riding ring and bar intact, sling hook intact, mechanics fully functional, top grade example.
Barrel length 21 in.
