Weapons of the Civil War
All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use. These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever! Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have.
W0725 Model
1816 flintlock converted by Remington to Maynard percussion, .69 cal 1858

Originally a flintlock, the government converted to
percussion in the 1850's. Lockplate is marked behind the lock "REMINGTON'S
/ ILION NY / 1858 US", Maynard primer door in front of lock. The Maynard
percussion system employed in the Model 1855 weapons was installed, and barrel
modified to take percussion. It remained a .69 caliber smoothbore, and was
obsolete by the start of the war. However, many were abandoned in the southern
arsenals at the outbreak of the war, and pressed into service by the south.
Three bands with springs, ramrod with flat head, fixed "V" sight.
Pleasing brown patina, light rust, mechanics work, wood solid, splice in
forearm, three bands intact, nose band is repro, bore has been rifled, rifling is definite but
dirty, ramrod is repro, strap hooks and strap intact. Additional marks in wood
are barrack marks.
Barrel length 42inches
