Weapons of the Civil War
All weapons listed on this webpage are strictly manufactured before 1898, and are considered unsafe for actual use. These are antique collectible weapons of the Civil War (most are pre 1865, unless I state otherwise) and actual firing of these weapons is not recommended for any purpose whatsoever! Because these are all "pre 1898" weapons, no licenses are required for ownership, but common sense and good judgment are real good things to have.
W0704 Model 1816 US Flintlock Musket Type III, Harpers Ferry 1838, converted
to percussion in 1850's with bayonet

This was the last flintlock produced, almost all of them were
converted to percussion during the 1850's, this one employing the
"Belgium" method. Although
considered obsolete by the Civil War, the arsenals were stocked with them and
many southern troops used them. Manufactured by Harpers Ferry Armory, Harpers
Ferry Virginia (now WV). Lock is marked "HARPERS / FERRY / 1838"
behind the hammer, and eagle head and "US" in front, mark is crisp.
Barrel is marked "VP" over eagle head, breech tang is marked
"1838". Buttplate is marked "US" and "7". Each of
barrel bands is marked "7". Lock strap is marked "7 and both
screws are marked "7". There are other inspector marks, numbers in
stock are rack numbers. Bayonet is marked "US" and is correct pattern.

original, bore is good could use cleaning, wood is good overall, minor dings and
scratches, superb example with bayonet
