Sword belt plate,
Regulation 1851, eagle facing left
Original was cast blank, motif was thin stamped, then soldered onto the recessed blank. Tongue is applied and silvered wreath separately applied. Eagle faced left toward the arrows, later designs had the eagle facing right toward the olive branch.

Hanover Brass Foundry. This is as close to the original as you will get: the age
look, the detail. It is marked with GW. A beautiful belt plate to wear or

Editor note: Original of this plate was cast and had a nickel silver wreath applied. The style of wreath is different from any of the others. The Hanover Brass version is cast with integral wreath. There are however two versions that Hanover Brass casts, one with applied wreath and one with integral wreath. Both are pictured on
