F1111  US Artillery plate

"US CIVIL WAR - Brass Officer's Belt Buckle
Round center. Has letters "US" in center. Ends have brass end 2" x 1/2". Takes about 2" wide leather belt. Round part in center 2" diameter. OVerall measurement 2-5/8" x 2". Original patina.
This is a genuine Civil War brass buckle. NOT A REPRODUCTION! Nice item for collectors. View pictures. See return and payment policy. Bid with confidence, I am a reputable dealer"

Source ebay auction by "erlowest", 6/12/06 "US CIVIL WAR - Brass Officer's Belt Buckle Item number: 6634626778"

Editor Note,  If sellers measurements are accurate height measures to approximately 51mm, way short of the original which should be approximately 54 or 55mm, depending on the pattern.  Although cast, these  prewar plates were well made and this example in this picture is definitely not well made.  Maker is not identified yet, but there is little doubt this is a repro.

F1110 US Artillery plate made by Hanover Brass

"My original that i use as my master pattern.
Two different originals I use as my master patterns. When you use the original the reproduction is 1 mm smaller"

Source:  Plateman posting on NVRHA 6/6/06

Editor note, Plateman is Hanover Brass.  I do not have measurements of this plate yet, but clearly this is higher quality than the ebay example but there are some flaws that are distinct and will carry to all of his reproductions
