Fakes, reproductions, replicas,
Confederate plate 443
Virginia Military Institute
Original was stamped, lead filled box plate. There were no buckles. Although the plate was no doubt issued to each cadet, survival is very low (plate is rare), probably because they were turned into the quartermaster at the end of a drill session, and eventually the entire stock destroyed.
F1242
Virginia Military Institute manufactured by Hanover Brass

Plate measures 40mm X 69mm
Editor note: Plate was obtained directly from Hanover Brass.
[Return to relicman main page, (real stuff), enough of these fakes!]
