Bullets of the Civil War
Three Ring .58 caliber
M&M 341 through M&M 409

Most bullets listed have been excavated from Civil War sites.  Illustrations are representative of the bullets offered, multiple quantities are offered for most patterns.  Bullets are very old and have generally been excavated, there may be minor dings and scratches. I will attempt to describe major flaws.

Please order by "M&M" number, McKee & Mason, "Civil War Projectiles II, Small Arms & Field Artillery with supplement".  I have also cross reference "T&T" numbers, which is Thomas & Thomas, "Handbook of Civil War Bullets & Cartridges".

All items listed are believed to be authentic to the Civil War or as otherwise described.

Washington Arsenal, .58 cal
P002302.jpg (409605 bytes)
Left:        Washington Arsenal, .58 cal "star"
Cone cavity with "star", 3 grooves.
M&M 341 T&T 151 $2.50

Middle:        Washington Arsenal, .58 cal unmarked
Truncated cone cavity, 3 grooves. From grooves this would appear to match the Washington arsenal star base bullets. It appears this may have been sent to the field before swag process. (This is my theory, I do not have this scenario confirmed.
M&M 341 variant T&T 151, variant $8.00

Right:        Washington Arsenal, .58 cal "US"
Cone cavity with "US", 3 grooves.
M&M 342 T&T 152 $65.00         Sorry, temporarily not available

Washington Arsenal, .58 cal "star"

M&M 341 T&T 151 $2.50
Bulk purchase: Washington Arsenal, .58 cal "star"  minimum quantity 25, @ $2.00

Rifled musket, .58 cal "swag" bullet
P002303.jpg (417300 bytes)
Left:        Rifled musket, .58 cal "6 point" swag
Cone cavity with 6 point swag design, 3 grooves.
M&M 344, T&T 153 $6.00

Middle:    Rifled musket, .58 cal "6 point" swag "rose"
Cone cavity with 6 point swag design, 3 grooves.  This is sometimes referred to as the rose design.  My opinion is that it is simply sloppy production of the standard 6 point design.  There are many variations due mostly to how much pressure was applied in the swaging process and stability and slippage of the alignment of the press.
M&M 345, T&T 153 variant $6.00

Right:        Rifled musket, .58 cal "5 point" swag
Cone cavity with 5 point swag design, 3 grooves.

Left:    Williams .58 cal "Harpers Ferry pistol carbine"
Cone cavity with pin, three grooves distinctive rounded nose, sometimes called "Harpers Ferry pistol carbine".  However there is no real connection to the famed pistol carbine, this is an early production of 58 caliber Minie Balls.
M&M 352, T&T 156 $2.50

Right:    Rifled Musket .58 cal CSA
Cone cavity, three grooves distinctive rounded nose. Possibly is a crude copy of the Williams style.  This is probably misclassified but I listed here because of similarity with the Williams / Harpers Ferry
