Ohio Buckles and accoutrement plates of the Civil War

Ohio militia shoulder belt plate
Oval shoulder plate bears the state seal of Ohio, this is the only
northern state to employ this design. Die work is very detailed, it is a
handsome plate.
Round die stamped plate, solder filled, two brass hooks intended for enlisted.
Attractive dug plate, original bend, brass hooks are intact.
Recovered: Perryville Kentucky by Jerry Taylor, positions of 3rd and 50th Ohio,
site is public property now but was private when this was found with permission
in the 1970's.
Plate measures 64mm (approx round cut plate)

Ohio Volunteer Militia, "OVM" oval belt plate
Oval buckle intended for troops of Ohio militia units, this is the medium size
following earlier regulations.
Constructed of stamped brass, solder filled, single brass arrowhead hook.
Early pickup, outstanding face with original curve, hooks have been cut
off probably for display on one of the early relic boards.
Recovered: not known
Plate measures 52mm x 77mm
