P1604     State of New York "SNY" oval belt plate  

Oval buckle intended for troops of New York militia units, New York supplied large quantities to their state units throughout the Civil War. This die design is noted for its relatively thin and well formed lettering.  
Constructed of stamped brass, solder filled, stud hooks are brass.  
Attractive dug patina, face shows dings and wear from use, slight bend, stud hooks intact.

Plate measures 56mm X 87mm (approx with bends)
