Arkansas state seal staff button (14.4mm)
This is the cuff version of the rare Arkansas coat, this die pattern was
only used for the small size.
Backmark: "HORSTMANN / (dot) NEW YORK (dot) " dm, probably Steele
& Johnson manufactured ca1860 (HorstmannWH33As)
Three part officer or "staff" button, sleeve or kepi size.
Stand up shank intact, this button was lacquered and not gilded. Tice notes in
his book that this was done on a limited number of these
buttons!.
