B5431     Confederate staff officer "CSA" English imported button (26mm) 

Button depicts eagle surrounded by 11 stars, "CSA" in shield, large, very well made English button was intended for high officers of the Confederacy, the elegant design simply looks like a general's button.
Backmark:  "COURTNEY & TENNENT / (dot) * (dot)" dm, outer ring of dots, inner solid ring, English manufacture, probably Smith
