Backmarks bearing "Treble..."
Backmarks bearing terms Treble Rich, Treble Gilt, etc are trademark or stock backmarks denoting quality. Most originated in England, and may have also been used to disguise the actual source in the southern smuggling trade. There is uncertainty as to who the actual manufacturers were of some of them so all are listed here.
Most information on this page is from Tice's book, Dating Buttons..., the pictures are generally from buttons that I have handled.
