Catalog of button backmarks
Halfmann & Taylor, Montgomery Alabama

E Halfmann formed a partnership with William Taylor to supply uniforms for the Confederacy during the Civil War.  The buttons bearing their name were probably made by Smith Kemp Wright and were smuggled through the blockade.

Most information on this page is from Tice's book, Dating Buttons..., the pictures are generally from buttons that I have handled.
