Goldsboro Rifles
Scovill Manufacturing made this button. Originally intended for the North Carolina staff, the back bears "Goldsboro Rifles". Apparently surplus quantities of these backs were produced but never used on NC buttons, Scovill used them on various northern buttons where inspections were lax.
Most information on this page is from Tice's book, Dating Buttons..., the pictures are generally from buttons that I have handled.
