Broun shell short
pattern, copper band sabot, wood fuse, Confederate rifle, 3 in.
Broun was a late war development, nose is rounded with bourrelet
ring, no bourrelet ring on base, cast for wood fuse, copper band sabot extended
below the base, a technological advancement copied by the Federals later,
however the sabot flew on most fired examples.
Unfired example, sabot fully intact, wood fuse missing, some pitting.
