P1523
Shoulder Belt plate, Regulation 1839 pattern, company officer ca 1840
to 1851

Very ornate cast shoulder plate for officers, "US" and wreath are silvered and
applied. Three hooks fastened a belt that draped across the officer's shoulder,
this handsome style was certainly fitting for an officer, from the Mexican War
period, generally pre 1851.
Beautiful nondug example, hooks were clipped off and two very small holes
drilled for mounting on an old relic display, the holes are not distracting and
can be filled.
Plate measures 65mm X 81mm
Ref: O'Donnell & Campbell, Plate 262
