This is a sampling of relics collected by Harry Ridgeway over the years.  This archive record is for educational purposes only.  Some of the relics listed may be on display at the Old Court House Civil War Museum, Winchester Virginia, some are no longer owned by the author.  None of the items listed in this section are for sale, please refer to the separate sales catalog for items that are currently offered.

All  items listed are believed to be authentic to the Civil War or as otherwise described.   
Any excavated relics have been recovered from private property with owners permission.

P0479     Texas belt plate

Construction is stamped brass, solder filled, hooks missing. The Texas trooper made a field repair by punching three holes to substitute for the keeper that broke off. However when the tongue broke off at Chancellorsville, it was discarded having seen hard use.

Plate measures 60mm X 85mm

Construction is stamped brass, solder filled.
One hook present, most of lead has flaked out.
Recovered: 1862 Battle of Gaines Mills, "Adams Field" near Cold Harbor by Steven M. Smith
Plate measures 56mm X 82mm

Construction is cast brass, applied hook missing. Very rare plate, this style of the narrow 5 point star is typical of the early Texas accoutrements
Recovered: in camp on the J.D. Waters Plantation just south of Houston in Fort Bend County Texas by Bobby McKinney..
Plate measures 47mm X 76mm
