This is a sampling of relics collected by Harry Ridgeway over the years. This archive record is for educational purposes only. Some of the relics listed may be on display at the Old Court House Civil War Museum, Winchester Virginia, some are no longer owned by the author. North Carolina oval belt
plate
Construction is stamped brass, solder filled. Unusual
replacement hook
is a field repair when the original hooks failed.
Recovered: Fredericksburg 1973
Plate measures 56.3mm X 87mm
Ref: This plate was published in the May 1973 inaugural issue
of the North South Trader when it was found by Harry Pullian at
Fredericksburg, VA. It was published a second time Vol 30, No 1, pg 24

North Carolina 6th Infantry
belt plate
Plates were made in a North Carolina Railway shop for the NC
6th Regiment which was privately funded. This is the only
southern regiment to be formed during wartime and equipped with
such a custom buckle. Construction is solid brass casting,
hooks were soldered and failed on almost every example including
this one. Remnants of black paint in background remain intact.
