Carbine sling buckle, Confederate Cavalry
Copied from the Regulation 1841 Federal sling buckles, the
proportions are smaller for these Confederate manufactured pattern.
Sling with portion of leather remaining.
Plate measures 53mm X 68mm
Found by Kenneth Beauchamp, Battle of Cedar Creek, VA

Confederate sling buckle
This is the small size sling, it measures 43mm X 66mm
Hook intact, no bends, nice example, unlike the larger Federal plate,
this buckle only had one hook.
