P0882
CSA rectangle belt
plate," Atlanta" style
Atlanta style plates are noted for the boxy letters, and
generally
the castings are relatively thick.
Superb example, hooks intact, clean patina.
Recovered: Ringgold Ga in 1986 by Randy Wilson
Plate measures 48.6mm X 71mm
Ref: Mullinax Plate 085 to 099 approx.
P0321
CSA rectangle belt plate,
"Virginia" style
"Virginia" style is distinct for the rounded style
of the letters. Usually
these plates are fairly thin and the marks on the face come from
manufacture. The hooks are cast straight out, then beaten down
on a bench. Because the Virginia style plates are thin., the hooks
bled through to the face from this hammering.
Top grade example, all hooks present
Recovered: Shelbyville Tennessee by Larry Hicklen, original discovery
was published NST Vol XI, No 3 Mar - Apr 1984 pg. 7 center right.
Plate measures 49.3mm X 71.5mm

P0320
CS waist belt plate, clipped
corner style
Construction is solid brass casting, hooks have been spun.
Outstanding example with small fragment of original belt remains
attached to intact cast hooks, small scrape on the face is slip of the shovel.
Found by Don Meacham, Blakely Alabama in the 1970's
Plate measures 46.2mm X 72mm
Ref: Mullinax , Plates 125 to 128
P0316
CS belt plate, "sardine
lid" style
Construction is stamped brass, with no solder filling.
Called the "sardine
lid" style by modern collectors because of resemblance to the shape and
size of a sardine can, although this is not a contemporary term. Hooks
were soldered from scraps and are intact in this example.
Plate is whole and solid, small cracks are typical.
Recovered: not known
Plate measures 58mm X 85mm
