This is a sampling of relics collected by Harry Ridgeway over the years. This archive record is for educational purposes only. Some of the relics listed may be on display at the Old Court House Civil War Museum, Winchester Virginia, some are no longer owned by the author. One piece flat button depicts Vermont militia soldier from an earlier era.

Depicts the state seal of Vermont, intended for Vermont
militia units. Evidently Vermont did not send inspectors, Scovill used this back
left over from buttons produced for a Cuban firm!
Backmark: "PALANZUELOS / (dot) MENENDEZ. Y. CA (dot) " rmdc on
stippled background, Scovill produced ca 1850's (Palanzuelos01)

Norwich University button (18.3mm)
This school was the first northern cadet school to be formed
after West Point. It was located in Norwich, Connecticut until 1866, when it was
moved to Northfield Vermont. One piece convex "cadet" size button.
Backmark: "ROBINSONS / (dot) * (dot) EXTRA (dot) * (dot) " rm, between
one upper raised ring and two lower, concave back on one piece button, ca 1830's
1840's (RobinsonRW25Am)
