Minnesota state seal officer staff button, (22.7mm)

Minnesota state seal, depicting eagle with plowman in the shield and
a native American on horse riding away, symbolism of the frontier at the time.
This button was discovered on a jacket believed to be identified to the Civil
War. This D Evans backmark may have been designed specifically for this button
as it may not appear on any other buttons.
Backmark: "D. EVANS & CO / (dot) ATTLEBORO' (dot) MASS (dot) " dm
inner solid ring late 1850's to 1860's. (Evans03)
Three part officer or staff style coat button, area around shank is flat.
Stand up shank intact, attractive gilded nondug button.
