Some of the relics listed may be on display at the Old Court House Civil War Museum, Winchester Virginia, some are no longer owned by the author. State seal of Michigan, depicting an elk, moose and an
eagle, with a hunter inside the shield. Intended for officers of Michigan
militia units.
Backmark: "SCOVILL MG CO / WATERBURY " dm small letters, inner solid
ring, lettering crowds the rim, ca early 1850's. (ScovillM#01)
Three part officer or "staff" coat button.
Stand up shank intact, top grade gilded nondug button.

Detroit Light Guard "LG" button ( 22.5mm)
Detroit Light Guard mostly served as a home defense unit and its most famous
action was in response to the perceived invasion by Confederate forces through
Canada.
Backmark: "HORSTMANN. BRO. & ALLIEN / N. Y " rmdc, additional
channel inside the mark, probably Scovill ca 1850's (HorstmannA03)

University of Michigan button ( 23.6mm)
Very unusual staff button, extremely wide rim bears the inscription
UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN motif bears the typical state seal of
Michigan matching Scovill die MG205A3.
Backmark: "GUITERMAN & BRO. / ANN ARBOR, MICH." dm two solid inner
rings, unknown maker backmark appears to be Scovill manufacture (Guiterman01)
